John Keells Foundation

John Keells Foundation, the primary sponsor of the Gratiaen Trust, is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) entity of the John Keells Group. It focuses on safeguarding and promoting Sri Lankan arts and culture by nurturing the livelihoods of artists, and preserving and promoting Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage. The Gratiaen Trust entered into this partnership with John Keells Foundation on 14th October 2019.

Sponsors

The Marga Institute is the physical home of the Gratiaen Trust. Set up in 1972, it as an independent, not-for-profit development, research and training center, and provides space for Trust meetings and storage of books. Its staff also assist with collecting applications for the Gratiaen and H.A.I. Goonetilleke Prizes.

The British Council, Colombo has partnered the Gratiaen Trust since its inception by hosting the short listing event for the Gratiaen Prize, and sponsoring panel discussions and guest lectures organized by the Trust.

Wijeya Newspapers are the media sponsors of the Gratiaen Trust. Established in 1979, it is the leading newspaper group in Sri Lanka, recording the highest annual turnover. Its sponsorship of the Trust includes print advertisements and feature articles on Trust events, as well as the writers who are short listed or have won the Prizes awarded by the Trust.
