Gratiaen Young Writers Club: Enhance Your Novel Writing with Yudhanjaya Wijeratne

We are pleased to announce that the second meeting of the Gratiaen Trust Young Writers Club!
Please find the details of the event below: 

• Date: 07th October 2023 (Saturday)

• Time: 4:00pm to 8:00pm 

• Location: Colombo 03 

To confirm your participation, fill the form linked below and attach a sample of your own writing.
Please ensure that you feel comfortable reading the sample to other participants in order to gain constructive feedback. 

Kindly follow the word limits stated below when submitting your written work: 

• Poems - 3 stanzas

• Short stories - 500 words

• Novels - 500 words

• Screenplays - 2 pages in screenplay format

There will be a cap of maximum 30 participants, as such attendance will only be confirmed on a first come first served basis. Accordingly, we encourage you to submit your writing samples at the earliest in order to secure a spot.

5 young writers will also have the chance for an exclusive one-on-one session with Yudhanjaya Wijeratne, an award-winning science fiction author, to read and review a sample of your very own novel.

The aim of this initiative is to provide our budding authors an opportunity to explore in-depth feedback on how they can enrich and improve their writing even further. 

All 1:1 sessions will be conducted on the 7th of October 2023 in Colombo 03. Each participant will be given a 20 minute time slot between 1:30pm and 4:00pm. (The exact timing will be confirmed once you have been selected)

Note that your writing sample must be the first 10 pages of an original novel (page size: A4, font: Times New Roman, font size: 12).
*Any samples with less than 10 pages will be rejected and more than 10 pages will be shortened.
